How to Calculate Retirement Savings Without Interest
Enter the amount you have saved, a monthly contribution, and the number of years you intend to keep saving. The tool calculates the accumulated nominal deposits assuming you deposit the same amount every month and make no withdrawals.
- Future contributions = monthly savings × 12 × years.
- Estimated total savings = current savings + future contributions.
- Months of saving = 12 × years.
Worked example: saving each month for retirement
Start with 10,000, save 500 each month and continue for 20 years: 500 × 12 × 20 = 120,000 in future deposits. Adding 10,000 in existing savings gives 130,000 in total nominal savings. The chosen currency does not alter this arithmetic.
What this calculation does not include
The current calculator does not add investment growth, bank interest, inflation adjustments, pension income, tax deductions or withdrawal planning. These factors may affect the real value and adequacy of your retirement savings, so the total should not be treated as a guarantee of future purchasing power.
Frequently asked questions
How much will I save by retirement?
Add your current savings to your monthly contribution multiplied by 12 and the number of years you plan to save.
Does this retirement calculator include interest?
No. It deliberately assumes no interest or investment growth and simply totals savings contributions.
Can I estimate savings for retirement at 55 or 60?
Yes. Work out the years remaining until that age and enter them in the Years to save field. The calculator does not automatically infer years from your age.
Can I choose Saudi riyals or another currency?
Yes. The currency selector changes the display unit; it does not convert your values using exchange rates.
Is the retirement total inflation-adjusted?
No. It shows nominal saved amounts only. Inflation could reduce purchasing power in the future.
Does it estimate pension income or sustainable withdrawals?
No. It does not calculate pension eligibility, benefit amounts, monthly retirement income or how long a fund will last.
What happens if I change monthly deposits?
The new total reflects the revised constant monthly contribution across the entire entered period, not a schedule of varying deposits.
Can I use it for an interest-free savings goal?
Yes. It is an arithmetic contribution planner. Whether a particular savings account or investment arrangement is Sharia-compliant depends on its actual terms.
