Take-Home Salary: How Net Pay Is Calculated
This free salary calculator starts from the gross salary per selected pay period. Enter tax withheld, benefit deductions and other deductions for the same period. It subtracts those amounts and displays the estimated net pay. It does not calculate taxes, insurance premiums or salary entitlements automatically for a country.
- Total deductions per pay period = tax withheld + benefits deducted + other deductions.
- Take-home pay per period = gross salary per period − total deductions.
- Annualized take-home estimate = net pay × 12 (monthly), × 52 (weekly) or × 1 (yearly).
Worked example: take-home salary from 6,000 monthly
For a monthly gross salary of 6,000, tax withheld of 300, benefit deductions of 100 and other deductions of 50, estimated take-home pay is 5,550 per month. The simple annualized net estimate is 66,600. The figures use one consistent currency and assume twelve equal months.
Monthly, weekly and yearly pay
Choose the period that matches your payslip, then enter all deductions for that same period. Monthly values use twelve periods in a year, weekly values use 52, and yearly values use one. The calculator does not model 26 biweekly or 24 semi-monthly payments, hourly rates, paid working hours, overtime rules, or uneven pay periods.
Gross pay vs. net pay
Gross pay is the amount before listed deductions. Net or take-home pay is what remains after you subtract the amounts entered. If overtime, commissions, bonuses or allowances are part of your gross amount, include them according to the same pay period; the calculator cannot determine their legal treatment.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate take-home salary?
Subtract tax withheld, benefit deductions and other deductions from gross salary, all for the same pay period.
What is net pay on a gross monthly salary of 6,000?
With 300 tax withheld, 100 benefits deducted and 50 other deductions, net pay is 5,550 monthly before any unentered adjustments.
Can I calculate my monthly salary after deductions?
Yes. Select Monthly and enter gross pay and each deduction for one month.
Can I calculate yearly net salary?
Yes. Select Yearly and enter yearly gross pay and yearly deductions, or select Monthly/Weekly to see a simplified annualized net estimate.
Does the calculator support hourly-to-salary conversion?
No. This version does not have paid-hours, hourly-rate or paid-weeks inputs and should not be treated as an hourly salary converter.
Does it use Saudi Arabia or US payroll laws?
No. The calculator has no local tax, national insurance, GOSI, payroll eligibility or overtime rules. You enter deductions based on your own payslip or information.
How is annualized pay calculated for weekly wages?
The net weekly result is multiplied by 52. Actual annual wages may differ with unpaid leave, bonuses or irregular hours.
Can I use a different currency?
You can choose a currency label for consistent amounts, but this calculator does not perform exchange-rate conversion.
What if deductions are larger than gross salary?
The calculator shows an error rather than a negative take-home amount when the entered deductions exceed gross pay.

Results are estimates from your entered values, not a payslip, tax return or legal statement of wages. Payroll deductions may vary with tax jurisdiction, national insurance, benefits and overtime or absence rules. Regularizing irregular income into an annual figure can be misleading.
